The first moment is when a student doesn’t get help immediately ⏳
Not because the teacher is unavailable — but because there’s a pause.
That pause forces a question to form in the student’s mind:
What’s the next sensible thing I could try?
That question is the foundation of independent thinking.
Once students start asking it themselves, something clicks.
The second moment is when the teacher asks how, not what 🤔
Instead of “What’s wrong?”
The question becomes “What did you try?”
Suddenly the focus shifts from correctness to reasoning.
Students realise their thinking matters — even when the answer isn’t right yet.
That’s when judgement begins to form.
The third moment is when students are allowed to test ideas safely 🧪

It doesn’t work.
Nothing bad happens.
No embarrassment.
No penalty.
Just information.
Over time, fear turns into curiosity — and curiosity drives initiative 🌱
The fourth moment is when improvement is valued more than speed 🧠
A slow, thoughtful solution is noticed.
A rushed one isn’t praised.
Students learn that clarity beats urgency.
That realisation changes how they approach every new problem — not just in coding.
The fifth moment is when “good enough” is accepted ✅
Students stop chasing perfection and start recognising completion.
They learn to decide:
Does this meet the goal?
That decision-making skill is rare — and incredibly transferable.
None of these moments look dramatic.
They’re quiet.
They’re ordinary.
They happen every day in Computer Science classrooms.
But together, they build something powerful.
Students panic less 😌
They trust themselves more 💭
They approach uncertainty with calm instead of avoidance.
That’s often called entrepreneurial thinking.
But really, it’s just learning how to move forward without certainty.
Computer Science teaches that naturally — when we protect the space where thinking happens ✨
And once students experience that enough times, it doesn’t stay in Computer Science.
